HOW TO DETECT AND DESTROY CURSES
[hr]
WHAT IS A CURSE?
It can mean many things such as:
1. Uttering a wish of evil against somebody or a thing.
2. Calling for mischief or injury to fall upon a person.
3. Binding a person, a thing or a place with a spell.
4. An evil pronouncement against a person, a place or a thing. Inanimate objects such as shoes, cars, buildings, clothes, food, etc. can be subjected to curses.
5. Vehicle of evil supernatural powers which can be transferred and can continue from generation to generation
6. The opposite of blessing.
7. A kind of fence to protect demons and to give them a legal ground to operate.
Issuing curses on people is common in Africa. In fact, in some areas, people wake up their children in the morning with curses. In some places, too, whenever people are angry they issue curses. The wife would curse the husband; the husband would curse the wife. They would curse their kids together. At school, the teacher would curse the students and the students, too, would curse the teachers. At bus-stops, there are a lot of curses. So, they are quite common. While some curses are disappearing, satanic agents renew some day by day. Let us look at some interesting Scriptures:
Romans 10:15 says, “How shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things.”
When gospel preachers enter into a place they bring in beautiful things. When Phillip arrived in Samaria, the Bible says, there was much joy in that city. So, when a gospel preacher is in an environment, there is joy, deliverance and salvation because the feet of the preachers of the gospel are beautiful. Likewise you have the ugly feet of the advertisers of the devil. When they get into a place, even if things were going on well there before, they would begin to turn sour. When you employ them in your shop, business will go down. When you take them as housemaids, your husband will become poor, your wife will become poor, and they will start to sell the property. When you take them into your house, the spiritual lives of people there would go down. These are signs that bad feet have entered into your house, the ugly feet of the advertisers of the devil.
HOW DO YOU RECOGNIZE
BAD FEET?
1. They introduce bad luck into the environment.
2. They go about purposelessly and aimlessly.
3. They go from place to place, thinking that geographical relocation is the answer.
4. They have peppery feeling all over their legs.
5. They succeed at nothing.
THE HAND
Zechariah 4:9 says, “The hands of Zerubabel has laid the foundation of this house, his hands also shall finish it and thou shall know that the Lord of host sent me unto you.” Here, the Bible is talking about the hand that would finish the work it started, meaning that some hands may not finish the work they started. Ecclesiastes 6:1 says, “There is an evil which I have seen under the sun and it is common among men. A man to whom God has given riches, wealth and honour so that he wanted nothing for his soul, of all that he desired, yet God giveth him not the power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it, this is vanity and it is an evil disease.”
When cursed hands start a project, they will not be able to finish it. They end it up at the foundation stage. They are not fruitful. Whereas the Bible says that you are the image of God, and one of the signs of a true image of God is that they always finish their work. Jesus said, “My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me and to finish His work. Paul also said, “I have finished my course.” The hands that are cursed will not finish any good thing.
HOW DO YOU RECOGNIZE
A CURSED HAND?
1. Anything that it touches does not work, or it works a bit and packs up. Such a hand introduces problems into the thing.
2. Unprofitable trading: Cursed hands are unprofitable in business. There was a certain sister who used to sell food in a primary school. The pupils never patronized her, but they patronized other sellers who came to the school. She used to go home and consume her own rice. One day, she got enlightened and started to pray. She anointed her hands and prayed and then the buyers shifted to her side. If she had not taken action or had said that things would get better by and by, the problem would have continued.
3. Unprofitable doctors and midwives.
4. Unprofitable tailors, carpenters and bricklayers: They would always spoil people’s houses, furniture and clothes. They are always in debt although they are working.
5. Lack of money.
The Psalmist says, “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.” The Lord does not do things halfway. His image too does not do things halfway. We can see that a curse could be on just one section of the body, or one section of a life. As long as you leave it there, it will sit down and enjoy itself.
HOW CAN SOMEBODY KNOW IF HE IS UNDER A CURSE?
HOW DO YOU DETECT IT?
There are about 70 specific sins in the Bible that could bring curses on people. If you run through all of them and you don’t find anyone affecting you, I congratulate you. You have passed the first test.
1. Those who curse or mistreat the Jews fall under a curse. (Genesis 12:3).
2. Anybody who is a willing deceiver comes under a curse (Jeremiah 48:10).
3. An adulterous man or woman falls under God’s curse (Numbers 5:27). When somebody is playing games with the Almighty, he is inviting a curse.
4. Disobedience to the Lord’s commandment will lead to curses (Deuteronomy 11:28). No matter how small the commandment is, if God says, do it and you don’t do it, you will come under a curse.
5. Idolatry. Any form of idolatry brings a curse (Exodus 20:5).
6. Those who keep or own cursed objects. If you have an object or a material in your possession that God does not approve of or that is spiritually contaminated, you come under a curse (Deuteronomy 7:25-26). God does not expect us to decorate our houses with images of evil animals such as owls, vultures, cats, etc.
7. If you refuse to come to the Lord’s help you will come under a curse. When God is calling for you to come and help and you refuse to help, the Bible says you are under a curse (Judges 5:23). When people are trying to do something for the Lord’s sake, and you refuse to come out, you come under a curse.
8. The house of the wicked. The Bible says the house of the wicked shall be cursed (Proverbs 3:33). If somebody comes from the house of the wicked, he will be cursed. For example, if your daddy was a herbalist, who dealt on charms to repair or destroy lives and properties, there is no way you are going to be free from troubles, unless you break the curse. If your daddy is a lodge member, the Bible classifies him as wicked. If he was into things like pressing of sand and occult things, then his house becomes the house of the wicked.
9. Somebody who has and does not give to the poor comes under a biblical curse (Proverbs 28:27).
10. The earth is cursed by the reason of man’s disobedience (Isaiah 24:3-6).
11. Jerusalem is a curse to all nations, as far as the Jews are rebelling against God (Jeremiah 26:6).
12. All thieves and those who swear falsely by the Lord’s name fall under God’s curse. If you have ever had to go to court and promised to tell the truth and nothing but the truth and your next sentence was a big lie, you are cursed. You have sworn falsely (Zechariah 5:4).
13. Ministers and Christians who fail to give glory to God but instead praise themselves or hide what God has done, come under a curse. Remember the 10 lepers who came to Jesus for healing. Only one of them came back to show appreciation. And Jesus said to him, “But 10 were healed, where are the nine? Only this stranger came to give thanks to God. Therefore, thou art made whole.” All the others were healed but Jesus said to that one, “Thou art made whole.” It is better to be made whole than to be healed. To be made whole means that everything is now new. To be healed means that old things are patched up and are doing well (Isaiah 48:11).
14. Those who rob God of tithe and offering are under a curse (Malachi 3:9). When you fail to pay your tithe or offering or you always borrow it, or you think it is too much and pay less, you are inviting God’s curse.
15. Those who prefer to listen to their partners than to God also come under a curse. When God is saying something, your partner is saying something else and you listen to the partner instead of God, you will come under a curse (Genesis 3:17).
16. Those who insult their parents come under a curse (Deuteronomy 27:16).
17. Those who make graven images (Deuteronomy 27:15). When we say graven images, they include crucifix, images of dead and living saints, all kinds of graven images, idols, etc. And God says that such people fall under a curse.
18. Those who willfully cheat people out of their property fall under a curse (Deuteronomy 27:17).
19. Those who take advantage of the blind because they cannot see, or the deaf because they cannot hear, are under a curse (Deuteronomy 27:18).
20. Those who lie with their fathers’ wives fall under a curse. You may think that this is strange, but it happens (Deuteronomy 27:20).
21. Those who lie with beasts (Deuteronomy 27:21).
22. Anybody who lies with his own sister (Deuteronomy 27:22) is under a curse.
23. Those who smite their neighbours secretly come under a curse (Deuteronomy 27:24).
24. Those who take money to slay the innocent, including doctors who abort, come under a curse (Deuteronomy 27:25).
25. All fornicators and adulterers fall under a curse.
26. The proud fall under a curse (Psalm 119:21).
27. Those who trust in men and not in God fall under a curse (Jeremiah 17:5).
28. Those who do the work of the Lord deceitfully and their families fall under a curse.
29. Those who keep themselves from blood when there is spiritual warfare. That is, those who run away when there is battle to fight are cursed (Jeremiah 48:10).
30. Those who reward evil for good are cursed (Proverbs 17:13).
31. Illegitimate children are cursed (Deuteronomy 23:2).
32. Murderers (Exodus 21:12).
There are many more examples in the Bible.
HOW DO WE BREAK THEM?
All curses are broken on the basis of Galatians 3:13-14 and Colossians 2:14.
What are the steps?
1. Repent from all known and unknown sins. When you are asking for forgiveness, first of all ask for forgiveness from those sins that you don’t know anything about.
2. Renounce all ancestral sins.
3. Accept God’s forgiveness and also forgive yourself. A lot of people find it hard to forgive themselves.
4. Forgive all who have ever offended you.
5. Renounce all contacts with demonic religions and objects.
6. Destroy any demonic object in your possession, including the devil’s music.
7. Break the curse by aggressive prayer.
8. Cast out every demon of curse because there is always a demon that will ensure that the curse works.
9. Claim the blessings, that is, offer a replacement.
God has a reason for making you to read this. I am sure the reason is for you to move into the highest blessings that you are created for and you are entitled to.
PRAYER POINTS
1. I break and loose myself from all curses, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every demonic bondage through parents and ancestors, break, in the name of Jesus.
3. Lay your two hands on your head and pray like this: I choose blessings and I refuse curses, in the name of Jesus.
4. I claim life and not death, in the name of Jesus.
5. Every demon of curse, release me, in the name of Jesus.
